Thank you so much to the Consortium of Jewish Day Schools for adding a deeply emotional and experiential element to Torah Academy’s annual Yom HaShoah program. COJDS provided our school with yahrtzeit candles , each with the name, hometown, occupation and place of death of one of the kedoshim who perished in the Shoah. Students in all grades learned about the Nazi Holocaust at an age appropriate level, and were able to relate directly to individual kedoshim through this project. Each student in the upper grades first read the inscription on his/her candle and then said a personalized tefillah on behalf of the neshama, adding a request to Hashem that we all merit to see the geulah speedily in our day. It was a truly profound and impactful experience.
